In college the 101 designation usually signifies the beginning class of a subject. Examples are Chemistry 101, Biology 101, English 101 etc. are the first classes you take before moving on to higher levels, and more specific fields within the subject. With that in mind, and thinking that some may be drawn to this site under the same impression, maybe making a list of things TO DO and NOT DO when out looking for bigfoot might be a good idea. Let's keep each post to 1 point so all of us have an opportunity to participate. At the same time if anyone has a question regarding if they should or should not do something feel free to ask and I'm sure someone will jump in and answer it.
DO NOT go into the woods especially in remote or wilderness areas ALONE!
Having someone along can greatly increase your chance of survival as well as getting you help if something goes wrong! I admit I've done it myself, but I was fully aware of the risks and I accepted them. I also know others that have done it and never made it out. This is a case of Do As I Say and Not As I Do...

This is an excellent idea, Moregon! I agree also about the 101 designation, and I immediately liked the name Bigfoot 101 because it reminded me of a beginning college class. I was hoping that some seasoned researchers would perhaps take on somewhat of a mentor type role for up and coming researchers like these great boy scouts who created this site! DO NOT go into the woods with someone you only know through the internet! The following quote is from the Bigfoot Forums, the Web's most popular one-stop shop for Sasquatch talk: www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?act=idx"Heading out into the woods with a person or persons you know only through discussions on the internet may not be a good idea. By participating in these threads [at the Bigfoot Forums], you agree that the Bigfoot Forums is in NO WAY responsible for what happens to you out there (and whether or not your body is ever found)."

Evidence Do's and Don'ts
Don'ts...
Do not handle fecal matter without a mask and latex gloves.
Do not freeze blood or hair samples. Blood should be air dried and both should be stored in paper containers.
Do's...
Do document everything in writing. You may think you'll remember it all later but you won't.
Do establish a written chain of custody whenever physical evidence changes hands (including the what, where, when, and who).
