Bigfoot vs. Eric Robarge
Whitehall resident and co-author of “Monsters of the Northwoods”, Paul Bartholomew, talks about various track casts at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008.
I’ll admit that I know next to nothing about the legend of Bigfoot. I tend to relate the subject to the old video of Bigfoot scampering through the woods and the fact that a high school classmate of mine, Eric Robarge, once did his senior thesis on the elusive creature. We all made fun of Eric for believing in Bigfoot. Couldn’t he have chosen a more serious subject like I did? My thesis was on the history of the Three Stooges. Enough said.
Back to Bigfoot – I give Paul Bartholomew a lot of credit; he has a ton of evidence to back up the claims that Bigfoot is indeed real. I never realized until the past month or so that there has to be a clan of Bigfeet roaming the land. With all the numerous sightings, there must be some serious inbreeding taking place. I hope one day that there will be better photos and video captured of Bigfoot. With all the advancement in technology, you would think that even a satellite image could be produced of this massive mound of fur.
Whatever the truth is, I find it fun imagining the possibility of a Bigfoot roaming the woods near Whitehall. I can’t help but wonder if he drinks from the Champlain Canal, has tea and sandwiches at Skene Manor or visits the wood carving of Sasquatch in the park. I think I owe Eric Robarge an apology.
You can read more about Paul Bartholomew and his research in an upcoming story on Saturday in The Post-Star.
