I have been leaving apples on a shelf I placed in a cedar tree about 6 feet off the ground. I left 6 apples and returned the next day. 5 apples were missing and this one was left on the shelf. It obviously has been bitten by something. The Bite measures 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". There is evidence of tooth penetration. If you look close you can see a piece the skin was pushed in to the apple by a large square tooth. It took a lot leverage to pop that large of bite out of that apple. This was the first of three apples I have recovered like this. My apples and even chocolate have been taken on a regular basis. The chocolate must be unwrapped though. Attachments:

Very cool! I'm glad you're having some kind of results from your squatching activities! It would be awesome to find fingerprints on those apples or to recover some DNA from where it was bitten! What would happen if you opened the chocolate and left the wrapper on? I wonder if he would take the wrapper off and drop it, leaving some fingerprints or DNA.
Keep up the great research, Bob!!

They won't take the chocolate unless it is unwrapped all the way. I have left the candy in all configurations. The apples would all be contaminated with human DNA right from the store. I will have to wash the apples and not touch them again. It would be nearly impossible to get any good science from that. Finger prints would be good though. They have left four apples with bites so far... I have taken pictures and made casts of all of them. If you look at the example above you will see that the flesh of the apple has not even started to turn brown. This bite is not very old.
